Each submission is unique; I take the time to review the scope of your inquiry and draft a quote accordingly. Quotes include editing time based around the rates listed below and communication time, if applicable. I will request a sample of the work to quote by, along with a completed questionnaire. Nonfiction Editing Services
Line Editing
This level of editing focuses on readability. Paragraph flow, sentence structure, rhythm, and word choice are all examined to enhance the reader's experience.
Line editing identifies author voice and the tone of the writing, applying edits that enrich and improve the composition.
The rate for line editing is $40/hr. Turnaround time is based on document length and a submitted sample. You will receive an editorial summary and also a style sheet that outlines the specific word treatments of the piece for you to use with future editors.

Copyediting
A sentence-level review of your document for elements such as style, grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency of voice, and order of information prior to publication.
The nonfiction copyedit rate is $36/hr and may include fact and source verification if necessary.
Copyediting may be combined with line editing as a "heavy copyedit." Please let me know if you are interested in this option in your inquiry.
Proofreading
The final, light check of a document for typographical errors, missing letters or punctuation, spelling and word forms, implementation of revisions, and consistency in formatting.
Proofreading is done after copyediting, and is intended as the last review before publishing.
Proofreads are done at a rate of $33/hr.
